Georgia, wrap me up
Studying medicine is a marathon, not a sprint. To keep your mind sharp and your spirit high, you need more than just textbooks—you need the fresh air of the Caucasus and the soul of Georgia.
Tbilisi isn’t just a city; it’s your home base for adventure. Here’s how to spend your precious weekends when the stethoscopes are tucked away.
We live the life we recommend
The Big Three: Tbilisi’s Backyard
-
Lisi Lake: The "student hub" of Tbilisi. It’s famous for its 4km circular path—perfect for a morning jog, a bike ride (rentals are everywhere!) or to watch the sunset over the rocky hills.
-
Turtle Lake (Kus Tba): A favorite for students. Take the vintage cable car from Vake Park for a few Tetris-worth of Lari. It’s perfect for a quick jog, a sunset coffee, or a paddleboat ride.
-
Tbilisi Sea: A massive reservoir. In the summer, it’s the place for swimming, sailing, and beach clubs. Visit the monumental Chronicles of Georgia nearby for a breathtaking view of the water from above.
In the City: Your Backyard Escape
-
The Chronicles of Georgia: Known as the "Stonehenge of Tbilisi," these massive pillars overlook the Tbilisi Sea. It’s where history feels giant and the views of the reservoir are endless.
-
Mtatsminda Park: Ride the funicular to the highest point in the city. Whether you want the adrenaline of the Ferris wheel or just a quiet walk through the pine forests, the "Holy Mountain" is the city’s lungs.
-
Sulfur Baths: Step into the heart of old Tbilisi at Abanotubani, where ancient brick domes hide natural, healing hot springs that have defined the city for centuries.
Into the Wild: Hikes & Forests
-
Sabaduri Forest: Especially in autumn or winter, this looks like a scene from a fairy tale. The road through the colorful, dense trees is one of the most beautiful drives in the country.
-
Kojori to Kiketi: A gentle 7km hike that’s mostly flat. You’ll pass the medieval Azeuli Fortress and hidden waterfalls. It’s the perfect "beginner's trek" to clear your head before a big exam.
-
Truso Valley: An easy, flat trek through "The Valley of Geysers" with orange mineral springs and abandoned stone towers.
-
Vardzia Caves: A 13-story city carved entirely into a cliffside. Vardzia was a secret cave monastery built by the legendary Queen Tamar to hide from invaders.
-
Sighnaghi (The City of Love): Walk the 18th-century defensive walls and look out over the Alazani Valley toward the snow-capped Caucasus peaks.
-
Gergeti Trinity Church: Perched at 2,170m under the shadow of Mount Kazbek. It is arguably the most photographed spot in Georgia. The hike up from Stepantsminda is a "rite of passage" for every medical student.
Beyond the Gates: History & Culture
Shred the Slopes: Skiing & Snowboarding
Canyons & Waterfalls: Nature’s Masterpieces
-
Gudauri: Just 2 hours from Tbilisi. It’s the "Mecca" for students—think vast, treeless slopes, incredible paragliding, and a vibrant après-ski scene
-
Kazbegi: The crown of the Caucasus. If there is one image that defines Georgia, it’s the Gergeti Trinity Church standing solitary against the massive, snow-covered peak of Mount Kazbek.
-
Bakuriani: Nestled in dense coniferous forests, this is the place for a cozy getaway. It’s slightly more relaxed, perfect for beginners, and the "Kukushka" scenic train ride through the snow is a must-do.
-
Martvili Canyon: Take a small boat through emerald waters between moss-covered limestone walls. It’s quiet, cool, and spiritually refreshing.
-
Okatse Canyon: For the brave! Walk across a 700-meter long glass skywalk hanging over a 100-meter deep gorge.
-
Ninoskhevi Waterfall: Deep in the emerald forests of Lagodekhi, this thunderous 40-meter cascade is nature’s ultimate "reset" button.
-
The Gveleti Waterfalls: A short drive and a light trek lead you to these "Snake Waterfalls" surrounded by dramatic cliffs.
Our Signature Spots
Lisi Dog Shelter
Our Favourite Spot
Beyond the waters of Lisi Lake, the local dog shelter welcomes volunteers to walk, assist or foster rescued dogs. Spending time there is a gentle escape from the material world. A simple walk, a wagging tail, or quiet eye contact with a grateful soul reminds us of life’s little blessings and has helped us rediscover a sense of peace that's often lost in the rush of city life
FABRIKA
If you’re in Tbilisi and want a place that feels alive, creative, and a little rebellious (in the best way), Fabrika Tbilisi is the spot. Set in a former Soviet sewing factory, it’s now a colorful hub of street art, cozy cafés, indie shops, and a courtyard that always feels like a mini festival.
What makes Fabrika popular among students:
• Budget-friendly food and drinks
• Co-working and study-friendly spaces with Wi-Fi
• Cultural events, live music nights, pop-up markets, and exhibitions.
• A very international crowd — ideal for making new friends
From free courtyard yoga and spontaneous dance nights to live music, workshops, and community gatherings, there’s always something going on- often donation based, proceedings of which go to charity. Fabrika isn’t just a place — Its a vibe you feel, a little world where art, freedom, and connection come together like magic.
